This section gives some information on existing and proposed laws, and explains some
of my terms regarding these laws, and my opinions of the proposed laws.
I encourage all other breeders
and hobbyists who have a website to please publish a page that addresses this issue.

NC LAWS Currently, their are few laws in NC regarding the ownership
of pythons and other related reptiles. One of the few laws refers to the ownership of the Timber Rattle Snake being unlawful
due to this species being endangered. Ownership of a Timber Rattle Snake in NC is a serious criminal offense! PROPOSED LAWS I totally disagree with nearly every proposed law that
I have ever read for obvious reasons. These are laws not yet on the books which have either been introduced for consideration,
or have already been rejected by government. I include the rejected laws as proposed, because once proposed, they can be revised,
and subsequently, reintroduced for further consideration. Our law makers frequently attempt to pass laws without public knowledge
to avoid criticism. Such proposed laws often attempt to regulate and restrict the types and numbers of snakes that an individual
or business can own. This is often done without consideration for the individual's level of experience, education, or
knowledge. These laws often require some form of registration and inspection process. The registrations are often proposed
as inexpensive, but once the system is in place, the fees are substantially raised as a source of revenue for the government.
Please check to see if there are any proposed laws within your local or state government, and feel free to notify me of these
proposed laws, and I will make every effort to address these law makers and their attempts on your behalf!
ACCEPTABLE LAWS These are my ideas of how pet ownership laws should be written. These laws
have proven acceptable when discussed with many snake and reptile owners. Please feel free to use and copy these ideas for
laws within this subsection. These laws address all pets, and do not single out the reptile industry. These are basic common
sense rules and codes of conduct among nearly all pet keepers that should be obeyed by all pet keepers. These are brief descriptions
of what laws are acceptable to both the hobby, and to the general public. These ideas for laws address the issues without
restricting the responsible business owner or hobbyist.
1. All pet owners shall provide appropriate care
to all animals maintained within their care to include properly providing feed, water, shelter, and veterinarian care when
needed. No animals shall be neglected or mistreated, or intentionally permanently harmed for entertainment or disciplinary
reasons. This does not apply to prey item animals at the time of intended consumption. 2. All
pets shall be properly secured. This shall include appropriate caging of all reptiles and amphibians, and other reasonable
means to restrict the movement of other large mammals such as dogs, cats, horses, cattle, and other large or exotic potentially
dangerous pets.
3. No person shall allow the accidental escape, or intentional release, of any domestic
or exotic animal into the wild or public domain.
4. No person shall keep or maintain any animal on rental
property without written permission from the property owner.
YOUR LOCAL LAWS It
is the responsibility of the customer purchasing a python or boa to know and understand your local laws that apply to the
ownership of exotic pets. I will not be held criminally or civilly liable, or responsible, for laws that you violate within
your own state or local government. If an animal is shipped from here to your location, I will be acting only as an agent
on your behalf in good faith that you have done the necessary research of the laws within your area to ensure that such a
transaction was legal.
